Castelnovo Monti is 40 car minutes from Reggio Emilia and the motorway connections, from here you can move to discover various historical and natural aspects of the Apennine area. In a few kilometres span you will find some of the most important examples of castles built in the Matilde di Canossa era (1046 – 1115), starting from the Canossa Castle, but also the Rossena and Carpineti ones are very interesting. Even more wide is the offer for hiking and outdoor activities lovers:
the surround track that goes around the Pietra di Bismantova for 15 kilometres starts very close to the hotel.
You can go there on foot, by car or bicycle, and offers one of the most beautiful panoramas of the Northern Apennine. On the rock (you can reach its base by car, and a car park is available there) there are different tracks that lead to the wide and spectacular top, or that go around the rock walls: the Pietra di Bismantova is really one of the most magical place you can visit.

For climbers is a true outdoor gym, with many different climbing tracks, ranging from the easier to the most difficult ones. Going up towards the crest the Apennine shows its best: Castelnovo is the that is the access and the beginning of the National Park of the Appennino Tosco Emiliano .

You just need to go few kilometres by car (or bike: it is not by chance if bikers from all around Europe arrive on these roads every year) to enter in the heart of this natural oasis: more than  23 thousand hectares of forests, streams, pastures, waterfalls and wonderful lakes, linked by tracks, cycling paths, horse tracks, through the Reggio Emilia Apennine, the Garfagnana and Lunigiana areas, among history, traditions and local products.
During the winter period, the Reggio Emilia Apennine crest offers many equipped skiing facilities, 30 minutes circa from the town. Different opportunities, and when you come back, or if you like a more comfortable kind of relaxation, Castelnovo ne’Monti offers all the services that the tourist may need, very close to the  Miramonti Hotel: Tourist Information Office (IAT), Sant’Anna hospital, provincial health centre (Castelnovo, because of its altitude, is considered an ideal place for cardiac rehabilitation), a large municipal library, the exhibitions’ hall and the Palazzo Ducale, many shops that make the town the commercial heart of the Apennine.

And more, for those who want to take a walk close to the town centre, we have three pine forests with easy tracks with poor height difference, in particular the Bagnolo pine forest. The town is also equipped with cutting edge sporting facilities: different gyms, a CONI (Italian National Olympic Committee) centre with a ground for athletics recently renovated, an equipped sports medicine centre, and a indoor swimming pool. These facilities make Castelnovo the ideal destination for teams and athletes’ training.
